All in all, OneNote has handwriting features almost as good as Goodnotes and is far more flexible and cross-platform. There are times when I want to write something down from my computer, and Goodnotes just isn’t capable of that. Your notes aren’t editable outside the Goodnotes app. I know that you can have Goodnotes sync to OneDrive, but that’s just a pdf backup. If you don’t allow Goodnotes to sync through iCloud, your notes aren’t accessible through the Goodnotes MacBook app. A small one-time payment to download Goodnotes isn’t an issue for me, but I refuse to pay a subscription. Goodnotes works through iCloud, and for it to be usable you need to pay a subscription fee to apple to increase your iCloud storage. The Goodnotes app on MacBook is just generally a nightmare, and there’s no Goodnotes web app. Goodnotes is an iPad app through and through, and just isn’t meant for typing notes. Since my Dropbox account is linked to GoodNotes, transferring files from my computer is a breeze. With GoodNotes, I can easily import PDFs to annotate during class, so my Powerpoint presentations have been converted to PDF for this purpose, and I have scanned some textbook chapters as well. I use an iPad 3 (somehow "the new iPad" doesn't feel like the right name!). My projection set-up is an Epson projector plus an Apple TV for wireless projection of my whiteboard. Until recently.įor the past couple of months I have been using GoodNotes (and I have been very impressed. Like many others, I have tried many note-taking, whiteboard and PDF annotation apps, and while they all have something I like, there hadn't been one that made me feel like I'd found "the one".
